Empowering the Next Generation: Arjun Doss Brings Self-Defense and Confidence to Underserved Youth

In today’s rapidly changing world, confidence and personal safety are essential life skills. Recognizing this need, 17-year-old Arjun Vinayaka Doss has taken it upon himself to empower young individuals through his initiative, SHEild Taekwondo.

A Grade 12 student at the National Academy for Learning in Bengaluru, Arjun is also a highly accomplished martial artist with a 3rd-degree Black Belt and Level 3 coaching certification.

His journey into social impact began in 2022 when he volunteered at a government school. While teaching academic subjects, he realized that many students lacked self-confidence and awareness of personal safety.

This insight led him to introduce Taekwondo training as a tool for empowerment.

What started as a small initiative soon evolved into SHEild Taekwondo—a platform dedicated to making martial arts accessible to all, regardless of financial background.

Through free workshops, Arjun has trained over 100 students, helping them develop discipline, confidence, and resilience.

To further support his mission, Arjun raised ₹40,000, which he uses to provide essential training gear and cover examination fees for students. This ensures that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from learning.

In addition to training, Arjun has built a strong community ecosystem. He has authored a Taekwondo handbook, created a peer mentorship network, and developed comic stories with students to share real-life experiences and inspire others.

Understanding the importance of technology, Arjun also developed TaekAI, an AI-powered platform that provides structured training and personalized feedback.

His initiative is not just about teaching martial arts—it is about building confidence, fostering discipline, and creating opportunities for growth.

Through SHEild, Arjun Doss is shaping a generation of young individuals who are not only physically strong but also mentally resilient and socially aware.

His work stands as a powerful example of how youth can drive meaningful change in society.
